Choose to Win conference

The Choose to Win conference has a strong impact on the dissemination of information and the collaboration among stakeholders. Many initiatives grew out of this event, namely the implementation of physical education classes in a specialized school of Québec City, the development of coaching for students with disabilities by students registered in sports programs or the introduction of inter-school competitions in some regions. Bringing stakeholders together has a significant impact on their capacity to develop opportunities for this clientele.

Regional Activities

Défi sportif AlterGo financed and supported the implementation of a pilot project focused on inclusive sports at the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) in Montérégie. The promotion of this initiative stimulated demand by stakeholders and youth in RSEQ in other regions. The project is starting to have an impact in other sectors, such as the municipal sector.

Webinars and Training

Webinars have led to an increase in many stakeholders’ knowledge across Québec in terms of working with youth with functional limitations. Training in remote regions allows for greater cooperation among different networks that have an impact on the practice of sports and physical activities for youth with disabilities (education, municipal, health, and community). Meanwhile, webinars bring stakeholders up to speed across all Québec, by showcasing experts and promoting the establishment of communities of practice.

School sports advisory committee

Since the beginning of the Choose to Win program, the number of athletes participating in school competitions at Défi sportif AlterGo has more than doubled, going from less than 3,000 to over 6,000. That increase in participation is due, among other things, to the important contribution of the School sports advisory committee. Comprised of volunteer professionals (teachers, kinesiologists, physiotherapists, etc.), the committee strives to improve the variety of competitions and the capacity of the Défi sportif AlterGo. The committee also contributes to the content of training and information disseminated to the community in the context of the Choose to Win program activities.
