Swimming

At the Défi sportif AlterGo, the Special Olympics (SO) swimming event, distances from 25 to 400 meters. Four styles prevail: freestyle, back stroke, the crawl and the butterfly. Swimmers are classified according to their gender and their qualifying time.

Swimming is one of the most popular sports in the world. Contrary to other sports, it can be practised lifelong. It is taught for safety reasons, but also for leisure and competition.

Transportation

It is possible to use the event transport service when lodging at one of the events official hotels for a fee.

Meals

During the event, athletes and volunteers can enjoy quality meals supplied by Groupe Compass. Healthy full meals are served at each competition venue.

It is possible to reserve the hot meal package for lunches on your competition venue. It is two lunches (Saturday and Sunday) for $25. Please complete the Excel form attached to your registration confirmation email to reserve your meals.

If you haven’t reserved a package, you can order lunch boxes that will be delivered at your competition venue. You must complete the lunch box order form and e-mail it to 47421@compass-canada.com. You will then receive confirmation from Groupe Compass. To ensure smooth operations of this service, we ask that you place your order before April 19, 2024.

Medical team

The professionals of Kinatex Sports Physio will be present at the competition venue to help athletes and volunteers. These therapists offer bandage services, first aid as well as tips on warm-ups and stretching.

Please note that Défi sportif AlterGo is not responsible for any medical fees.

EMERGENCY TECHNICAL AID REPAIR SERVICES

During the Défi sportif AlterGo, the CIUSS du Centre-Sud-de-l’île-de-Montréal provides athletes with emergency repairs on technical aids (wheelchairs, orthotic devices and prosthesis), between 9 am and 9 pm for the whole duration of the event.

Please note that if your aid does not belong to the Régie de l’assurance-maladie du Québec (RAMQ), the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST) or the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ), you will have to pay for the repairs on your technical aids.
