We’re still in awe of the exploits of Friday’s school athletes, who displayed undeniable talent! Nevertheless, the Défi Sportif AlterGo continued on Saturday at 2 competition sites.
Montréal well-represented in junior para hockey by ambassador Nathan Galarneau-Desjardins
Saturday marked the second day of the junior para hockey tournament, in which 2 Montréal teams competed against clubs from Ontario. Liberal MP and former National Hockey League (NHL) player Enrico Ciccone came to cheer on the young athletes.
The Grey team benefited from a notable performance by our athletic ambassador Nathan Galarneau-Desjardins, who scored 1 goal and had 3 assists in a 4-1 victory for his team. However, Galarneau-Desjardins was keen to give credit to the entire team. “We have great team spirit. We do a lot of passing. We have the best players, the best defenders, the best goalie.”
National boccia competition continues

Quebec team concedes honourable defeat to China
In the first of a 2-game para hockey series, the Québécois put on a good show against China last night. The game, which went into overtime, ended 3-2 in favour of the Chinese.
Saoud Messaoudi, one of our 2023 Défi Sportif AlterGo athletic ambassadors, took a positive view of Quebec’s performance, despite the outcome. “Despite the loss, as representatives of Quebec we’re very proud to have held our own against a national team.”
They will have a chance to even the score on Monday evening at 8 p.m., once again at the Howie-Morenz Arena, in what promises to be a very physical match.
What’s happening on Sunday?
