Montréal, April 22, 2023 – We are still blown away by all the amazing feats we witnessed yesterday at the mini-marathon! Thanks to the students, the day was a huge success!
Marylou Martineau on a mission at the National Boccia Open
Marylou Martineau, athletic ambassador of the 40th Défi sportif AlterGo, is well-positioned as she heads into the elimination rounds of the National Boccia Open. After winning yesterday’s match 7-1, she kept her momentum alive today, winning her first game 12-1. She then capped off the day with a 5-1 victory in her final round robin match. Her quarter-final match is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. tomorrow.
“I’m proud to show that despite our limitations, we have a place here and we can continue to improve. It sets a good example for the community.”

Quebec well-represented in junior para hockey
Today was day one of the junior para hockey tournament. Two Montréal teams are participating in the competition, which also welcomes clubs from Ontario. The two local clubs began the tournament by playing against each other, and the White Pirates won! However, they later lost their two subsequent games to Ottawa and Hamilton. The Black Pirates defeated Ottawa and lost to Hamilton. More tomorrow at 8:00 a.m.
The Défi sportif AlterGo celebrates Earth Day
The Défi sportif AlterGo has developed a solid sustainable development plan for the event. Initiatives implemented at the competition sites include food recovery, a waste sorting system, and composting.

Coming up tomorrow
The weekend will come to a close in boccia with the national-level finals at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow at the Maurice-Richard Arena. At the Howie-Morenz Arena, the last preliminary round junior para hockey games will determine which teams will compete for the title at 2:00 p.m. On Sunday evening, Saoud Messaoudi and the national para-hockey team will take to the ice in preparation for their battle against the USA on Thursday!
