We are honoured to present a partnership between the Défi sportif Altergo and Decathlon Canada, the sporting goods chain that has been in the news recently with the development of inclusive “symbols of possibility“. Among other things, Decathlon Canada will support the organization’s new pilot project, the Mini Défi sportif AlterGo. The Mini Défi sportif AlterGo will take place in Saguenay on May 31 and in Gaspésie on June 8. (Registration is underway, so tell your friends and family in these regions!)
For accessible sport
This new collaboration will aim to make sport increasingly accessible to people with functional limitations.
“This first partnership was a natural fit for us, said Tristan Vendé of Decathlon Canada. With a mission such as ours, ‘To make the pleasure and benefits of practicing sports accessible to as many people as possible in the long term,’ we are committed to supporting an organization that has been working for so many years for universal accessibility. We also wish to participate in a widening of the access to adapted sports, the first ‘Mini Défi’ marking for us the beginning of this expansion, which we hope will be quick and bring more well-being all around us, every day.”
The Decathlon Canada team will also be volunteering at the 39th AlterGo Challenge, which will take place from April 22 to May 1, 2022. We look forward to welcoming them!
A Completely Sportive Day
We are also very pleased to announce a Journée complètement sportive at the Brossard Decathlon, where adapted sports will be put forward by the Défi sportif AlterGo team. On May 7th, from 10am to 2pm, you will be able to try wheelchair basketball and many other sports in the outdoor testing area and the decadium. It’s a date!
In preparation for this event, Decathlon employees were trained by Formation AlterGo on March 29.
The trainers, Maude Massicotte and Camille Chai, equipped the participants to welcome people with functional limitations.
Thanks again to Decathlon Canada for supporting the Défi sportif AlterGo in its many activities and mission!
