The 43rd Défi sportif AlterGo starts today!

This morning, more than 1,200 young athletes in the school component gathered at Jarry Park for the mini-marathon.

Over the next 10 days, more than 6,000 athletes will push their limits as they compete in 15 different sports.

Our 5 athlete ambassadors will take part in several of the competitions; see below for where and when to catch them in action during the Défi.

Alison Levine

From Monday, April 27, to Sunday, May 3, Alison Levine will compete against athletes from 22 different countries in the Montreal 2026 World Boccia Cup, being held at the Maurice-Richard Arena.

An elite boccia player who is ranked 11th in the world in her category, Alison will compete in both the individual event and the pairs event, along with her teammate Iulian Ciobanu, with whom she forms the world’s 4th-ranked duo.

Carl Marquis

From Monday, April 27, to Saturday, May 2, teams from all across Canada will face each other in the Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championship. Carl Marquis of the Québec 1 squad will be one to watch during this major competition, which will be held at the Centre des glaces Gilles-Chabot in Boucherville.

In 2025, Carl and his teammates won the silver medal.

Mélanie Labelle

Mélanie Labelle is set to compete in a major event: the first-ever Women’s Wheelchair Rugby National Championship. Starting tomorrow, April 24, and running until Sunday, April 26, some twenty female athletes will take part in the tournament at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex.

It’s a significant milestone in the development of women’s wheelchair rugby—don’t miss it!

Éloic Constantineau

Also from April 24 to 26, Éloic Constantineau will compete in the Junior Para Hockey Tournament, which will feature 3 teams from Quebec and Ontario at the Centre des glaces Gilles-Chabot in Boucherville. It’s an excellent opportunity to see the young para hockey players of tomorrow in action.

Our young athlete ambassador will be looking to defend the gold medal he won last year at the Défi sportif AlterGo.

Chloé Pelland-Lambert

This year, our athlete ambassador Chloé Pelland-Lambert will participate in the school component of the Défi sportif AlterGo for the final time before she graduates from high school. On Thursday, April 30, she will compete in several track and field events, including the 100-metre dash, the shot put, and the standing long jump.

She will also attend the school component’s opening ceremonies all week and take the oath on behalf of all the athletes on Monday, April 27.
